Summer Holidays
We will be closed the August bank holiday week commencing 30th August. We will re-open on Monday 6th September.
Recent loss of Michael's Mother
I would like to thank all of you that have sent messages of condolence, with over 80 e-mail responses being received, also for the many sympathy cards received, many coming from those of you that I have never met. As well many of you have expressed your sympathy in phone calls with me over the past few weeks. It really was an unexpected, but much appreciated response, especially as most of you had never met or spoken to my mum. I have not yet had a chance to read all the e-mails received, but I will do in the coming days and weeks.
Busy Periods
The previous few months have been some of the busiest on record for us in terms of turnover, amount of orders and amount of phone calls taken, for which we would like to thank you. As a consequence this means that at times you will find that the phone lines engaged. We do have 2 numbers as shown above so if you have us on speed dial and cannot get through please try the other one. We are also happy to receive orders by email. The increase in orders means that on occasion your goods may not leave on the same day as the order is placed, especially if we get it later in the day. Our carriers normally arrive around 3pm, so if your order is urgent please ensure that let us know as early as possible.
Harrogate
Michael will once again be visiting the Brith Bridal Exhibition between 12th - 14th September. Although we do not exhibit at the British Bridal Exhibition, we are present during the time of the show at a local hotel. We are always happy to see existing or prospective customers by appointment.

New Product Lines
We have introduced a range of over 200 bridal dress accessories which includes Pearl and crystal buttons as well as clasps, buckles and brooches incorporating crystals.
We now have some stock on the majority of these articles. We will hold stock of more items over time as they become used by more customers. If we do not have stock, delivery from most of the suppliers is within 3-4 weeks and the minimum order will be 1 piece.
The photocopy sample books are now available to order. The cost of the accessory book is £7 (trade customers only).
If you are ordering a small quantity of these at any time with fabrics then we have decided that, as many of these are relatively fragile, the safest way to send them is to tuck them in the end of cardboard tubes. If we do this there will be a sticker on your delivery note indicating this.
Images of a selection of these articles are available to view

14th Birthday!
We are pleased to be starting our 15th year of trading in May. Just to make it an even better occasion the company has just completed its highest two months of sales in its history in March and April. It has also been the biggest quarter on record. So we would like to thank all of you for your support the past years, and look forward to supplying you all for another 14 years. Over 500 customers have bought from us just in the last 2 months alone.
Prices
Our latest pricelist is July 2010. Please click
here to request a copy.
There are some items that have increased and some decreased in price mainly due to the currency fluctuations of the past 12/15 months.
Recent Deletions
We have taken stock (mostly of items in our basic book) from a customer who is retiring. This includes a number of pieces in colour/qualities that have been deleted in recent times, like P54 Chiffon and PT39/40 SB Shantung Jacquards. Anyone wishing to purchase any of these pieces would be offered a good discount. Please ask for details. For most items there is only one length.
Special Offers
We currently have some special offers on selected colours in our P42 Duchess Satin, P38 Shimmer Chiffon and P39 Shimmer Satin. For more information click

Michaels Bridal Fabrics Customer of the Year 2009.
After the publicity and generally favourable comments generated by last year's event, we have decided to present this award again. We are please to announce that this year's winners are Katrina and Geraldine of Forget Me Not Designs in Ryde, IOW.
Like last year, one of the main criteria for the winners to fulfil, is to contribute to the ongoing success of Michael's Bridal Fabrics. For the past several years Forget Me Not Designs have been consistently one of the largest users of our fabrics. Their collections have featured a large number of our beaded tulles and many of their dresses have used a variety of qualities and colours of our famous Italian taffetas. There are many qualities and colours that we currently run, where they have been influential in our decision to include them in our collection. Many of their customers consider their collection this year to be one of their best ever. This collection also includes many of the most recent fabrics, edgings and motifs to be added to our range. Geraldine is the designer and all their garments are produced in the UK.
Katrina is always cheerful and optimistic on the phone and even her occasional complaint is usually made with constructive comments. As a supplier you could not wish for a nicer pair of sisters to work with. This is not the first award they have won, on 3 previous occasions they have been awarded the BBA designer of the year award by their customers for their all round excellence of design and service. Katrina and Geraldine will receive gift vouchers to spend as they wish.
You can see their current collection using many of our exciting fabrics by clicking
here. You can also see some of their dresses on our homepage.
Finally we would like to offer our congratulations to all at Forget Me Not Designs on celebrating their 20 anniversary in the business recently.

When told they had won this is what Katrina had to say:
"We have been working with Michael's Bridal Fabrics for many years, and I don't doubt that their fabulous and well sourced, choice of fabrics and trimmings combined with their ability to hold stock and allow cut lengths has been instrumental to the success of Forget Me Not Designs. We have enjoyed a great working relationship over the years with a lot of laughs along the way. Long may it continue and thank you for the award."
This news has appeared in both
Bridal Buyer and
Attire Bridal magazines.
Invoices by Email
We now have the facility to be able to email invoices and statements. We have been sending out statements in this manner for some time. However, following on from the difficults with the post recently we decided to offer this facility on invoices as well.
For invoices this is an opt in system, if this would be of benefit to you please click
here to send us a quick email. (Please mention company name in body of email.)
Both statements and invoices are PDF Files.
These will require you to download Adobe Reader.
You can download it free from
Adobe.
Forward Requirements for Fabric.
This is a subject we periodically mention. If you have fabric requirements for future orders, it is helpful to our planning of placing orders with suppliers to know in advance that you require it. This mainly applies to the more higher priced articles that we do not hold such big stocks of and many of these items also take longer to produce. This is more important now than ever, as the current climate dictates that our stock holding will reduce next year, and many articles will not be re-ordered until they reach a lower level than now. It also applies to some of our best selling corded laces (P429/P449/P452) as these are proving to be very popular with one large customer, which means they seem to be very rarely in stock unsold.
PCCI Compliant
As many of you are aware we store credit and debit card data, with your permission. We can confirm that an organisation representing major credit and debit card companies have made checks on how securely we retain this data, and we are now certified PCCI compliant. If you click on the image below you will see our certificate for our website.
(Please note we are still unable to accept credit/debit cards payments directly through our website.)
Michaels Bridal Fabrics Customer of the Year 2008.
We are pleased to announce that Nicola, the owner of Nicola Anne in Hinckley Leicestershire is the winner of this award.
Nicola has been a customer for many years and was chosen because of her constant cheerful and positive outlook in the difficult times we currently face.
Combined with her useful input into some of the directions our collection should be going, and always being prepared to accept that circumstances beyond
our control may occasionally cause problems, and that as we are human, we also occasionally make mistakes. And finally, just for being an exceptionally nice person to deal with.
Nicola has received gift vouchers to mark her achievement. You can see Nicola's current creations using many of our exciting fabrics by clicking
here

When told she had won this is what Nicola had to say:
"Thank you to Michael and everyone at Michaels Bridal Fabrics for this award and for being such an excellent company to be doing business with. We are honoured to receive it and we greatly appreciate being recognised as a valued customer."
Cornelly Embroidery and Veils.
Our supplier of this service has closed their factory at the end of 2008. Currently our sales of Cornelly are very modest, but the service we will now be able to offer is to embroider specific panels of a dress. This will be a more economical way of offering this service; prices will be pro-rata the current price per metre. The design will also be able to be made more to "fit the panel". To view the different designs available click
here. Regarding existing veil designs we can now source them from another manufacturer. We have started to offer a range of veils incorporating some of the edgings we currently run. We have quoted for three designs done with edgings on the pricelist, but in theory it should be possible to supply veils using many of the edgings we currently run. Prices would be on request and depend on the size of the veil and the edging required, as scalloped edges and beaded variations are much more expensive than straight edges, due to the longer production time needed.
